Older newborns are welcome too. A baby at three or four weeks is photographed with more relaxed, wrapped and cradled setups rather than the deeply curled poses, and the images are just as beautiful. If you missed the early window, contact us anyway.

Safety, Posing and What to Expect

Safety governs everything in a newborn session. The baby is never left unsupported, a parent or an assistant is always within reach, and any pose that looks like the baby is holding its own weight is a composite created from several supported images. The room is kept warm, background noise is kept low, and the session runs at the baby's pace, with pauses for feeding and comforting whenever they are needed.

Posed newborn photography uses wraps, textured layers, simple props and a limited palette of soft, neutral colors so the baby stays the focus of every frame. We also photograph the details: fingers, toes, eyelashes, the curve of an ear. Parents and siblings are included, both in posed family frames and in quieter, more natural moments.

Plan for the session to take a while; newborn work cannot be rushed. Feed the baby just before arriving, dress the baby in loose clothing that is easy to remove, and bring anything you would like included, such as a blanket knitted by a grandmother or a small keepsake. Parents photograph best in solid, neutral colors.
